The GSNA is a chartered student organization (CSO) member of the Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA). Chartered student organizations are formed to further the common interest of the members of the group and the university community. Officers of GSNA represent graduate student nurses at the university level.
All graduate students currently enrolled into the College of Nursing at UNM are members of the GSNA by virtue of being a graduate nursing student. We are your graduate association; please feel free to contact any of the officers with information or suggestions regarding activities and/or your interests.
A non-refundable GPSA fee is levied on all graduate students at the time of registration for each semester. Use of the designated GSNA apportionment of these fees is subject to the budget procedures set forth in our bylaws (see GSNA Grants Code).
Terms begin upon the completion of the Spring semester in May and run to the following May. Please contact any of the officers if you have questions, concerns or thoughts on how this association can better support graduate students.

The Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA) is the representative governing body for all graduate and professional students. GPSA represents the interests of graduate students through continuing contacts with the OGS, the University administration, Board of Regents, and the state legislature. In addition, GPSA maintains an active network with other graduate student organizations nationally. The primary goal of the association is to enhance graduate educational opportunities for all students at the University. For more information visit the GPSA website at http://www.unm.edu/~GPSA , call (505) 277-3803, or e-mail unmgpsa@gmail.com
The Graduate Resource Center, administered by the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS), provides support for graduate and professional students engaged in writing and research. The GRC crafts a series of workshops, seminars, and symposia to develop academic, research, and professional skills, and the faculty connections that are essential to student success. The GRC offers individual appointments to discuss writing and research projects with advanced peer graduate consultants. Visit http://www.unm.edu/grad/grc/grc.html or call (505) 277-1407for more information.
The OWL offers online consultation through email. Students can submit their work and questions (up to 10 pages at a time) and receive feedback within 48 hours. Visit http://www.unm.edu/grad/grc/grc.html
The SRAC grant, up to $500, is available for conducting research or traveling to present it at a conference. The ST grant, also up to $500, is available for traveling to a conference where you are NOT presenting research, or for any event that furthers your professional development (i.e. job interviews, or travel to and from an internship). The Graduate Research Development (GRD) grant, $3000 or (if you are working with a New Mexico state agency) $5000, is available for larger-scale research projects. Contac the GPSA for application information and deadlines http://www.unm.edu/~gpsa/funding.shtml
The UNM Office of Graduate Studies provides Research, Project & Travel (RPT) grants. RPT awards are intended to defray the costs of materials or equipment necessary to your research, and/or for travel required to collect data or to present the results of research at professional meetings. Because of the limited availability of funding, the selection process will be extremely competitive. http://www.unm.edu/~grad/funding/rpt.html
The national network of AHECs provide priority workforce development and community health support services to underserved populations, primary care and primary care support health disciplines. Contact Robin Mintz, Program Manager, (CON) for more information at rmintz@salud.unm.edu or call (505) 272-1184.
A portion of the funds collected by the GSNA are allocated to assist graduate nursing students with the cost of attending clinical rotations outside of Albuquerque and professional conferences. Please refer to the GSNA Grants Codes for information on the application process.
