CON Simulation Education Tour

As part of the UNM Homecoming celebration and in an effort to bring more alumni back to campus the College of Nursing offered an educational tour of the simulation labs by our very own Joe Poole, Herica Torres and Art Sedore. Attendees were first given a run down on the use of simulation education and its purpose through a simulation exercise where Sim Man had fallen out of bed and hit his head. Then after answering questions and showing the Alumni the orientation video, two of the alums participated in a SIM while others watched. They had to apply oxygen and assess the wound of a patient who just had a total knee replacement. Just like our students, they were asked to debrief about what they learned from the experience. Everyone enjoyed the experience. The day concluded with a tour of the Nursing Skills Labs as well. We hope to make this an annual event.
