Dr. Joseph P. Sánchez is the Program Operations Director at the University of New Mexico College of Nursing and Executive Director for the New Mexico Center for Nursing Excellence. His strength in nursing includes policy and legislative, workforce, strategic planning, finance, operational management, program assessment and evaluation, veteran and diversity initiatives. Dr. Sánchez has over 12 years of work experience in K-12 public education in New Mexico. His experience in public education includes program and operational management, finance, contracting, policy and legislative and working with vulnerable populations. In addition, Dr. Sánchez has been an entrepreneur and served six years as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the United States Navy. Dr. Sánchez completed his PhD in Family Studies in 2016 at the University of New Mexico, Master’s in Business Administration in 2001 at New Mexico Highlands University and a Certificate in Logistics in 2005 at the Naval Supply Corps School in Athens, GA. His personal work philosophy comes from Steve Jobs: “Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.”
